AN AUDIO-THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE CELEBRATING WOMEN

MARA is an original, multidisciplinary piece of theatre that celebrates the story of women through time by means of sound manipulation and electro-acoustic music, performed live by The New Victorians.

The work was devised with an all-female cast, and was Composed and Directed by The New Victorians. From inventors and scientists, to artists and activists. From musicians and politicians, to writers, to fighters, to mothers. MARA is an audiovisual journey through time, highlighting the fact that every story is worth telling, and that no voice should be silenced.

MARA was supported by The Mackintosh Foundation and played to sold out houses as part of the Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture Programme and at The National Theatre of Scotland’s Exchange Festival.  MARA had its London debut at the Vault Festival 2019 in February and was performed at the Pleasance during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2019.
